Settling down in front of the Christmas Day episode of Call The Midwife has become something of a seasonal tradition in many households – last year, nearly 5 million of us tuned in.
For much-loved actresses Jenny Agutter, 69, and Helen George, 38, making the festive specials has become a yearly treat, even though they film the snow-filled episodes in the spring and don’t get to see them until several months later.
“It’s always lovely seeing it for the first time,” says Helen, who plays midwife Trixie Franklin. “You kind of remember what you felt to begin with, because we’ve been through six months of filming and a lot of storylines since then.”
